Mike Dean of EUC Engineering has given a presentation to Engineers Australia’s Risk Engineering Society on the subject “Legal Obligations for OHS Risk Minimisation by Designers and Suppliers of Mining Machinery”. The presentation outlines legal obligations for designers and suppliers of mining machinery in WA. It includes advice that the “mainstream” approach to hazard identification and demonstrating a hazard/risk is below a company risk threshold (showing the risk is in the “green” cells of a risk matrix) does not necessarily achieve the legislative requirements.
