An Australian consulting firm has commissioned EUC Engineering for a 12 month contract to conduct Critical Risk Assessments for six Pilbara sites associated with iron ore production including ports, power generation stations and electricity transmission system sites.  For more information about this project call Mike Dean on +61 (0)448 103 028.

A large engineering contractor has contracted EUC Engineering to provide a machinery safety focussed hazard identification study and risk assessment (in accordance with AS 4024) related to proposed retractable ladders for access to a rail mounted conveyor tripper at a Pilbara iron ore processing plant.  For more information about this project call Mike Dean on +61 (0)448 103 028.

Mike Dean of EUC Engineering has given a presentation to Engineers Australia’s Risk Engineering Society on the subject “Legal Obligations for OHS Risk Minimisation by Designers and Suppliers of Mining Machinery”.  The presentation outlines legal obligations for designers and suppliers of mining machinery in WA.  It includes advice that the “mainstream” approach to hazard identification and demonstrating a hazard/risk is below a company risk threshold (showing the risk is in the “green” cells of a risk matrix) does not necessarily achieve the legislative requirements.  The presentation is available from the Downloads page in the presentations folder.

EUC Engineering has been awarded the work of providing engineering support for the preparation of an obsolescence assessment of an underground mine's skip winder’s electrical and control systems. Michael Benson will work within the study team to undertake the work. The focus will be on spares availability on-site, with OEMs and in the wider market.  The work is due to be completed in March 2014.  For more information about this project call Mike Dean on +61 (0)448 103 028.

EUC Engineering has been awarded work from a major iron ore miner in WA's Pilbara region. The work involves completing a retrospective Functional Safety Lifecycle process including all related hazard and SIL Determination studies and to create a Functional Safety Dossier for a rotary (Rail) Car Dumper. The work will involve site visits for inspection and assessment of the machinery related to hazards of the car dumper and site based workshops. The work will be completed Q2/2014.
